Job Interviews: Put Your Best Foot Forward | Allegiance Staffing

Job interviews can be anxiety-provoking. You want the job, so it’s only natural that there’s some pressure about performing well.

Here are 3 of the best ways to make sure you put your best foot forward in an interview.

1. Be on time. You need to be a bit early for every job interview. Being late can cause you to lose the job. Employers have a natural tendency to assume that the behavior you show in an interview will be the same as your behavior on the job. They don’t like lateness! So make sure you know how long it takes you to get to the company interviewing you. Making a trial run at the same day and time a week earlier will let you see any traffic delays such as road construction.

2. Make sure your clothes are clean and ready to go. There’s nothing worse than pulling out your interview clothes and realizing they should have gone to the cleaners. It sounds simple, but many people overlook it: make sure all your interview clothes pass muster a week before. If any cleaning is needed, do it. Do you need new stockings? Buy them.

3. Bring copies of your resume. Because most applications are done online, many applicants believe they don’t need hard copies of their resume. You may not, but it’s a good practice to bring a few copies anyway. Many interviewers will see it as a sign of good organization. Also, if they decide to bring someone else into the interview, that person may not have your digital version. You solve the problem by having a copy.
